We young women are bombarded with images from television, magazines, advertising, film and the internet. These images show us how advertisers believe we "should" look and don't include healthy normal women. Even though we see real women in our lives as beautiful-our friends, family and mothers, for some reason, we just can't believe our own bodies are beautifully, perfectly created. What to do?!?!

1.
Put down the magazine, switch off the film, turn off the television!
A lot of pressure women feel comes from the media and feeling compared to "ideal" movie stars and models. If you aren't happy with someone telling you what you should look like, then stop listening to them!

2.  Spend time with people who make you feel good
Your mother tells you you're beautiful, your boyfriend swears you're sexy, your friends support you, but you never believe them! Instead of discounting what your loved ones believe because they are close to you, try keeping an open mind when they tell you that your body looks healthy and beautiful.

3.  Support ethical fashion and beauty
You don't want to see unrealistic body images, but you love to dress up. What to do?? Some designers like Stella McCartney, and time periods such as the 50s and 70s cater to women with a healthy outlook and natural bodies.

4.  Emphasize your best features
Instead of concentrating on what you don't like about your figure, remember what you love! It could be your eyes, your lips, you hair, or your legs, as long as you dress to emphasize them!

5.  Focus on health
Some women want to be thin at any cost; other women ignore health to justify being overweight. The truth lies somewhere in the middle-when you feel good, you look good. If you take care of yourself, it always shows.
